The Cleveland Monsters take on the Milwaukee Admirals in a Tuesday night romp at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena. In an exciting twist, the top two point scorers in the league will go head-to-head. Cleveland forward Rocco Grimaldi just came off an 11-game point streak, which launched him up the leaderboard to second in the league with 23 points. On the other side of the ice, Milwaukee forward Vinnie Hinostroza earned six points in the past three games to help him solidify his spot at the top of the league with 25.

Cleveland has won both meetings against Milwaukee, 6-5 (OT) and 4-1.

Daemon Hunt will make his Monsters debut on the second pairing with Cole Clayton.

Two Minutes Until Puck Drop

There are currently technical issues on the live stream with FloHockey.

Start of the 1st Period - Monsters 0, Admirals 0

GOAL - 1st Period, 1:03 - Monsters 0, Admirals 1

For the second game in a row, the first shot by Cleveland’s opponent turns into a goal. Vinnie Hinostroza picked up an errant puck and fired it down the slot.

GOAL - 1st Period, 4:10 - Monsters 0, Admirals 2

Milwaukee’s Joakim Kemell launched a shot from the center point that Cleveland netminder Jet Greaves was able to block. However, Greaves dropped to the ice to stop Kemell’s shot allowing Ozzy Weisblatt to lift the puck into the net for the goal.

GOAL - 1st Period, 12:47 - Monsters 1, Admirals 2

Trey Fix-Wolansky picked the puck off the boards at the redline before passing it over to Cole Clayton, who was skating through the neutral zone. Once Clayton hit the offensive zone, he turned on the burners and began to rush the net before getting tangled with a member of the Admirals.

Fix-Wolansky was following behind Clayton and was able to whack the puck past Matt Murray to put Cleveland within one of Milwaukee.

End of the 1st - Monsters 1, Admirals 2

It was rough start to the game for Cleveland. In the beginning of the first period, the defense let Milwaukee crowd the doorstep and Greaves’ reaction were slower than usual. By the time the end of the period rolled around, Greaves looked much quicker.

Also, Cleveland defender Cole Clayton’s offensive skill was on display during the back half of the first period.

Start of the 2nd Period - Monsters 1, Admirals 2

2nd Period, 6:26 - Admirals Getting Punchy

The Admirals, specifically Kyle Marino, were punchy during the first half the of the second period. Any time one of the Monsters laid a clean hit, they descended upon them faster than a hawk trying to steal a tiny dog out of someone’s backyard.

Marino tried to fight Joseph LaBate early in the period, but LaBate just laughed at him. They have a history of fighting. So, you know LaBate declining to fight drove Marino a bit bonkers.

GOAL - 2nd Period, 18:32 - Monsters 1, Admirals 3

Some wonky passing by the Monsters led to Ryder Rolston being able to zoom through the neutral zone before scoring on Jet Greaves.

End of the 2nd Period - Monsters 1, Admirals 3

If Cleveland has any hope of winning this game, they need to start passing better, find ways to get into scoring range, and clog up Milwaukee’s shooting lanes.

Through two periods, the Admirals lead the shot count, 31-14.

Start of the 3rd Period - Monsters 1, Admirals 3

3rd Period, 13:24 - Shooting Monsters

Thanks to a power play, the Monsters were finally able to get near the net to fire off a few meaningful shots.

At this rate, they might register as many shots in the third period as they did in the first and second combined.

GOAL - Power Play - 3rd Period, 19:11 - Monsters 1, Admirals 4

Milwaukee Captain Kevin Gravel managed to dig the puck off the boards deep in the Admirals’ defensive zone before launching it into Cleveland’s empty net.

This is Gravel’s first power play goal since December 13, 2017. He was playing for the Ontario Reign in their 4-2 win over the Texas Stars.

FINAL - Monsters 1, Admirals 4

Cleveland struggled in all aspects tonight. By the time the Monsters settled in, the Admirals were firing on all cylinders.

The past two games have proven that the Monsters need to start strong, or they will struggle to finish.

Three Stars

1st - Milwaukee - Anthony Angello - 0g, 1a
2nd - Milwaukee - Ryder Rolston - 1g, 0a
3rd - Milwaukee - Ozzy Wiesblatt - 1g, 0a

Unsung Hero

Defender Cole Clayton stepped up on the offensive side of things in tonight's loss. So, the Assistant Captain earns tonight’s honor.
