Stankoven, Doan Highlight AHL All-Rookie Team

Last week, the American Hockey League announced that goaltender Joel Blomqvist (Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins), defensemen Brandt Clarke (Ontario Reign) and Logan Mailloux (Laval Rocket), and forwards Josh Doan (Tucson Roadrunner), Brad Lambert (Manitoba Moose), and Logan Stankoven (Texas Stars) have been named to the 2023-24 AHL All-Rookie Team. The honor is voted on by coaches, players, and media across the league. A custom-designed crystal award will be given to each player named to the team. 

Joel Blomqvist 
Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins
Goaltender

Joel Blomqvist currently has a record of 25-12-6. Blomqvist sits fifth in the league with 25 wins, and his 2.16 GAA is third-best in the league. His .921 sav% is tied for fifth in the league with Ontario’s Erik Portillo, who is also a rookie. 

Brandt Clarke
Ontario Reign
Defense

In 48 games, Brandt Clarke has just under a point per game with 44 points. He is tied with rookie Brad Lambert for first in the league with 34 assists. Clarke went 4-for-4 in the accuracy shooting competition at the 2024 AHL All-Star game. 

He also had a chance to play for Ontario’s parent club, the LA Kings, for 16 games this season, where he notched two goals and two assists.

Logan Mailloux
Laval Rocket
Defense

Logan Mailloux has played in every game for the Laval Rocket this season, notching 47 points in the form of 14 goals and 33 assists. His 47 points are the most by an AHL rookie defenseman since Sami Niku tallied 54 during the 2017-18 season. 

The Montreal Canadiens elevated Mailloux on Tuesday to make his NHL debut. 

Josh Doan
Tucson Roadrunners
Forward

The pride and joy of Arizona, Josh Doan, has excelled in his rookie season, leading all AHL rookies with 26 goals. Doan’s 10 power-play goals and eight game-winning goals have him tied for the league lead amongst all rookies. 

 In his NHL debut, Doan shone as bright as the sun in Phoenix, recording five goals and four assists in 10 games for the Coyotes. 

Brad Lambert
Manitoba Moose
Forward

During the 2023-24 season, Brad Lambert joined Kyle Connor and Mason Appleton as the only Manitoba Moose rookies to reach 20 goals in the last decade. He currently ranks second amongst rookies with 54 points in 63 games. 

Logan Stankoven
Texas Stars
Forward

Before being elevated to the Dallas Stars, Logan Stankoven was performing at a 1.21 point-per-game pace with 57 points in 47 games for the Texas Stars. Despite spending the last two months with Dallas, Stankoven leads all AHL rookies with 57 points.
